THE accompanying photo was sent by text from Fisho writer and boat tester extroadinaire Mark Ward, who's just been back to QLD's Cape York where he'd been based as an ambulance officer working out of Weipa.
While it's always great to hear from Wardy, receiving images like this can be somewhat unsettling, especially when you're deskbound in Sydney and another e-newsletter is pending!
For the record, the barra was taken by Wardy's mate Tony Sinopoli somewhere in the Wenlock River and measured an impressive 116cm. Wardy said the boys were targeting mangrove jacks around some rockbars when the barra took a liking to a red and white 7" Gulp Jerkshad softbait.
The fish was also caught during the barra closed season and was released unharmed.
